On the morning of the 11th , December 2009, thousands of people were present at Thuyen Quang Lake to take part in the Run For Children 2009 event. This event was being continued from a previous year’s event, called “Terry Fox running.” The program had attracted many local and foreign people, and groups. The event raised 960 million for the poor children with cancer and heart disease in Central Children Hospital, and Hanoi heart disease Hospital.
As a sponsor of this event, ANCO donated 4,300 drinking yogurts and 3,200 bread buns. Although it was just a small contribution, it shows ANCO’s support of local causes and our belief in supporting worthwhile causes. At the event all of the runners seemed to be smiling. There were people of all ages and positions, all participating out of hope for making a difference in the lives of sick children.

In this event, there was a special exhibit called “ Sunflower smiles.” This exhibition contained 15 large pictures and 78 paintings and drawings by sick children. Each of the children have very touching and challenging stories and this show brought to life their feelings, hope and desire to fight and beat their diseases. The idea behind the show is that each child is a bright sunflower reaching towards the community with hope. The community is their sun, its love and help will help them continue despite pain and other challenges from their illnesses. |
